Battle of Galwan is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language war drama directed by Apoorva Lakhia, starring Salman Khan as real-life martyr Colonel Bikkumalla Santosh Babu. Releasing on April 17, 2026, the film depicts the historic June 15, 2020 clash between 200 Indian soldiers and 1,200 Chinese PLA troops in the Galwan Valley, Ladakh — the first combat fatality between India and China in 45 years.
Story & Background
The clash was unique because no firearms were used — soldiers fought hand-to-hand with barbed-wire-wrapped sticks and stones due to a bilateral agreement. 20 Indian soldiers were martyred, including Colonel Santosh Babu, who was posthumously awarded the Maha Vir Chakra. Salman Khan portrays him in a rare, physically transformed avatar.
